HOW to TELL SECOND EDITION Phillips posters from first edition.

Posters listed on Phillips Studios website are FIRST EDITION unless noted.


JERRY GARCIA BAND at the Del Mar, Santa Cruz, 1976

--

The Jerry Garcia Band second edition is very close in appearance to the first, both are the same size. Paper and ink colors are the same. On the FIRST edition, the 3 stars around the title are printed black (second edition stars are red). The FIRST edition has "©1976 YEA PRODUCTIONS"in lower right corner printed in black after the words Santa Cruz. Some second edition Garcia posters are stamped there, or on the back with "SECOND EDITION". The Second Edition was limited to 250. First Edition (1K),were used as advertisements for the show. Both editions are 11 x 17 inches.


"The WITCH"MOBY GRAPE Halloween Party, 1977

The Witch second edition was printed much larger(15.5 x24") and is easy to tell from the first(11x17"). The FIRST edition was printed black and red on rather lightwieght yellow stock, the SECOND was printed black, yellow and red on white posterstock. The second is also marked with a "-2" after 1977 in the lower left corner.


THE DOORS at the Crosstown Bus, 1967

The Doors second edition was printed larger (12.5x16.5") than the first (8x11") and on heavier posterstock. The SECOND has "©1967 -2 JIM PHILLIPS" in the lower right corner. The first was signed only with a "P". The second edition was limited to 250.


THE BEATLES 1967

The Beatles second edition is the same size and color as the first, both are silkscreen printed. Only the SECOND edition will have"©67" in white at the lower lefthand corner. 100 first editions were printed , 220 second editions were printed.
